Methodology
How this catalogue treats evidence
- Method and evidence status are independent. An unknown method is not automatically questionable; a historic date is not a quality defect.
- Approximate (~) and over (+) markers stay on the value. Original text such as + 200,00 kg or 19?? is preserved.
- Weight and length appear as one specimen only when that link is known. Otherwise they remain separate claims or separately labelled fields.
- Featured claims prefer documented rod-and-reel weights, then unknown-method weights, then other methods and found-dead. Length is used when no weight exists; age only when neither remains. Questionable claims are used only when nothing documented remains.
- Each claim carries a source-confidence label where relevant. Catch photographs are labelled as record evidence, not species portraits.
